Mid Monsoon month doesn’t mean it will rain 24 hours a day during July. It is one of the sunniest months because it usually rains at night, and it is sunny in the daytime. July welcomes the summer monsoon season in Nepal.

There will be a significant amount of rainfall in evening time, but the mornings offers clear awe-inspiring mountain views after the rain.

Climate conditions depend upon the altitude and regional distribution. Pokhara receives more than 400 mm rainfall which is highest in Nepal. So, it’s better to avoid near Pokhara like ABC.

Usually, the western and northern part have less rainfall. North-side of Nepal receives very less rainfall because of a rain shadow area behind the high Himalayan ranges.

During the monsoon, these regions receive rainfall like 50 mm. So, you should consider going on trekking of these regions rather than the eastern part of Nepal.

During July, Kathmandu receives an average between 220-400 mm of rainfall. And the temperatures may range from max 25°C to min 18°C because frequent rainfall slightly drops-down the temperature.

In Hiking trails below 3,000 meters, the temperatures cross 30°C during daytime and drop to 10-15 °C during night time.

Trekking trails above 3000 meter, the temperature will be 10-15 °C during daytime and falls below 5°C at night times.

As I already mentioned above, rather than heading to famous trekking trails like Annapurna and Everest base camp, July is a time to go on trekking to rain shadow areas of Nepal.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t trek on Everest and Annapurna; few tea houses will be open to serve offseason trekking lovers. If you are ready to take the challenge of slippery trail and don’t mind the rain, then you can trek anywhere in Nepal.

Here is the list of best treks that you should consider doing in July and can complete without any hassle.

Upper Mustang Trek

Upper Mustang is the forbidden kingdom of Lo lying north of the Annapurna range, which makes the place the rain shadow area. Monsoon doesn’t have its full impact in upper Mustang, which means It gets little to no rainfall even in July. Here, you can enjoy your treks in average temperatures of 15 to 20-degree Celsius.  This is the main reason to choose Upper Mustang to trek in Nepal in July.

Nar Phu Valley Trek

Jomsom Muktinath Trek

Jomsom Muktinath Trek is popularly known as mini Annapurna circuit trek. Kagbeni and Jomsom is also the gateway to the upper mustang trekking.

Jomsom and Muktinath is a part of lower mustang so that it also receives less rainfall.

During the Jomsom and Muktinath trek via Beni, you can assume medium temperatures of 25°C in lower altitudes below 2,500 meters and can be around 15°C above 2,500 meters.

The trek gives grand mountain views of the Annapurna region, including Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri Himalayas, and fantastic countryside sceneries. The major attraction of this trekking is to visit the famous Hindu pilgrimage site, Muktinath Temple, and natural hot spring at Tatopani.

Note: If you want a little bit more adventure on your trip, You can also do Annapurna circuit trek in July. It is because most of the areas of this trail also lie in the rain shadow areas of the Annapurna range. And crossing the highest challenging pass of Thorong La is a worthy effort adventure trekking in Nepal in July.

Ghorepani Poonhill Trek

Ghorepani and Poon Hill trekking is the best short trek of Nepal lies in the Annapurna region. It is also the gateway and en route of Annapurna Base Camp.

The trek takes to the highest point of 3,210 meters of Poon Hill’s viewpoint. So that in this altitude, the temperature ranges around 15°C to 25 degrees Celsius during July. This is the only all-time favourite and opened trekking trail of Nepal suitable for all kinds of age groups.

During the trek, you will walk through incredible dense rhododendron and bamboo forests and beautiful villages. Poon Hill offers the best sunrise view over mountains of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges.

If you don’t fear of Leeches and cold in high altitudes, you can continue your trek to Annapurna base camp. Most of the tea houses of the route will remain open during July too.
