Detail Itinerary Of Gokyo Chola Pass Trek
Day 01: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla(2,860m) and Trek to Phakding(2,651m) – 4 hours.
On this day We take an early morning flight to Lukla(40 minutes), and we meet the rest of our team in Lukla. After loading our trekking equipment, we start trekking from there. By descending towards the Dudh Kosi River where we join the main trail to Namche Bazaar, located just above Chaunrikharka. The walking is easy. After passing through the small village of Ghat, you will reach Phakding. Overnight at Phakding.
Day 02: Trek to Namche Bazaar(3,438m) – 6 hours.
After breakfast at Phakding, we begin our walk. Our trail passes through a pine forest on the path that goes north up the Benkar valley. We cross the Dudh Koshi River and pass Chumoa and Monjo villages. We will walk crossing the majestic river on exciting suspension bridges laden with prayer flags. Finally, we reach the entrance of the Sagarmatha National Park. After entering the Sagarmatha National Park, the trail climbs steeply with breathtaking views, and we will reach Namche Bazaar (probably the biggest town in the Everest region). Day 03: Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar.(Day trip to Khumjung)(3,700m) – 5 hours.
Namche Bazaar is a great place to acclimatize. The sights around Namche are spectacular and beautiful. On this day We can hike-up to Sagarmatha National Park and enjoy the sunrise over the Himalayas including Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Kongde, Thamserku, Ama Dablam, and so on. We can visit the Sherpa Culture Museum and the Everest Photo Gallery as well. Overnight stay at the Guesthouse.
Day 04: Trek to Dole(3,680m) – 6 hours.
Today, our path will move down the hill, and then we will climb via the Mon La pass before reaching Phortse Tenga. On the way, we will pass the rhododendron, and birch forest. Moving further on from Phortse, we will reach Dole. On this day, we will walk for approximately 6 hours. Overnight at Guesthouse on Dole.
Day 05: Trek to Machhermo(4,470m) – 4 hours.
Today We will hike from Dole to reach Machherma. On the way, we will see the stunning valley with rhododendron woods. Significantly, the marvellous vistas of Cho Oyu, Thamserku and Kantega will mesmerize you. Overnight at Guesthouse.
Day 06: Trek to Gokyo(4,800m) – 4 hours.
Today’s trail climbs the ridge of valley excellent view of big Mountain Cho-Oyu and Kantaga. We will also get to witness of stunning greenish-blue Gokyo Lake. Varied scenery of the Gokyo Valley will enchant us as adjacent peaks flanking Tibet, and Cho Oyu can be noted. We will trek for roughly 6 hours today. Overnight at guesthouse in Gokyo.
Day 07: Trek to Thagnak(4,750m).Morning trip to Gokyo Ri(5,357m) – 4 hours.
Today morning we will climb steep ups directly above the Gokyo lake to reach Gokyo-Ri. From here we can see significant Himalayan views of world highest mountain with Makalu range which is better than from Kala Pattar. After taking the picture all the way, we will trek Gokyo again. And after breakfast, we will trek down to Thagnak. On the way, we can see the outstanding views of the mt, Thamserku, Nuptse, Makalu and many more. Overnight at Thagnak.
Day 08: Trek to Dzongla via Cho La Pass(5,367m) – 8 hours.
We have another stressful day for our trip as Cho La Pass is a steep ascent and constitutes of glacier traverse on the eastern side which makes the trail slippery. Cho La Pass is at the height of 5,367m. We can Ama Dablam on the south, Cholatse on the west, Lobuche on the east and Baruntse on the north. Finally, we will reach Dzongla via Cho La pass. We will stay overnight at Dzongla.
Day 09: Trek to Lobuche(4,940m) – 3 hours.
Today we walk down from Dzongla. We will cross a bridge then pressing through grassy paths while relishing ourselves with a beautiful view of Lobuche. Today we will walk only for three hours facilitating the relaxed observation of outstanding location. Overnight at Lobuche.
Day 10: Trek to Gorakshep(Day trip to EBC)(5,364m) – 8 hours.
Walking for about 3 hours, we will reach to Gorakshep, a tranquil location dotted with some lodges. Today is a significant and challenging day walk. From here, the path moves all the way along the Khumbu Glacier, and up to Everest Base Camp at 5,365m, you can get to Mt. Everest without mountaineering equipment. We will commence with a slow walk to avoid altitude sickness. After spending some time at the Everest base camp enjoying the environment and the sights, we will return to Gorakshep. Overnight stay at the Guesthouse.
Day 11: Trek to Pheriche(Morning trip to Kalapatthar)(5,545m) – 8 hours.
Today early in the morning we will hike up to Kala Patthar from Gorakshep. The golden sunrise over the white peaks is impressive. The view from the summit is outstanding. From Kalapatthar we can see panoramic views of Mount Everest, Chagatse, Nuptse, Pumori and the Lhotse among many other peaks. Then we will back to Gorakshep, and after having breakfast, we will further trek down to Periche. Overnight at Guesthouse in Periche.
Day 12: Trek to Namche Bazaar(3,440m) – 7 hours.
Leaving the mountains behind us, We will cross the villages Pangboche and Tengboche continuing to the town of Namche Bazaar. Today we walk on a trail with a lot of ups and downs. We descend through a hillside filled with juniper and rhododendron trees and cross a bridge over the Dudh Koshi River. We will arrive at Namche in the afternoon. Overnight at Guesthouse.
Day 13: Trek to Lukla(2,860m) – 7 hours.
This is our last day of trekking(we return to Lukla from where we began the trek). We will move steeply downwards and after crosses a suspension bridge. We will reach Lukla. On the way, we can see pine and rhododendron forests, as well as snow, covered peaks. As we reach Lukla, we can relax. Maybe in the evening, we can celebrate the victory of accomplishing the trek as well. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 14: Fly back to Kathmandu – 40 minutes.
