How much does it cost to trek in Nepal?

The trekking cost in Nepal will entirely depend on which trek you are heading, How many people are there in your group, what things you want to include on your package (like Accommodation, Foods, Guides, Porters) as well as to whom you will book the trip. Such as for one trekker there will be one guide & one porter, You have to pay them alone, When you are in a group then also you can go with one guide & 2:1 porter sharing, which will reduce the price.

You can ask with your travel planner whether you want to include your food & accommodation cost during the trek on the trip cost or you want to pay yourself. Much international travel agencies are offering Nepal trekking packages. They will charge more than $ 1,500 for any trekking. But the amount will reduce if you go with a local travel company in Nepal. It is better to go with registered and local qualified agencies.

When is the best time to trekking in Nepal?

Pleasant weather with warm forecasts and excellent visibility of white mountains makes trekking enjoyable. Choosing the best trekking season is essential to enjoy the trekking experience to its full extent.

There are four seasons in Nepal, winter, autumn, spring, and summer. Among these four seasons, Autumn(September, October, and November) is considered the best trekking season. Autumn season is considered the best time to trekking in Nepal because of favourable weather conditions. The trekking paths are also neither too wet nor too slippery filled with rhododendron blossoms.

During autumn days are warmer and nights are pretty cool, a perfect time for trekking like the Everest Three High Passes Trek because of its difficult pass like Khong Ma La. Furthermore, autumn is also the season when the major two festivals of Nepal Dashain and Tihar are celebrated.

But trekking never stops in Nepal, and people do trekking at any time or month they choose. Each season provides different trekking experiences. You can learn more about the different seasons in Nepal here.

If you are an adventure trekker and already had done many treks outside Nepal, then you can choose any of the trekking because you have previous experience about trekking.

But if you are going experience trekking for the first time in Nepal, then it’s better to do some short treks on a lower elevation.

Do we need any training for trekking in Nepal?

There is no required of any specialized training for just to trekking in Nepal if you are physically fit. But you need to have enough strength to walk at least 5/6 hours a day to uphill and downhill mountainside roads.

Many peoples think that trekking means climbing the mountains but its completely wrong. Trekking in Nepal is just walking towards the foothill of Mountains.

If you are doing short treks then its not necessary to take any training but if you are doing High mountain passes treks such as Everest three high pass, Larkya La pass, Thorong La pass then it would be better to take some training before.

Training for trekking in Nepal may include pieces of training like making a habit of walking steep hills uphill & downhill roads with a loaded backpack, developing a practice of drinking lots of water, building strength endurance etc.

Can we do trekking in Nepal with family and baby?

Yes, you can do trekking in Nepal with family and kids. But keep in mind that if you are going to do the trek with kids choose the lower elevation treks such as Poon Hill, Nagarkot hiking etc.

My suggestion for all the trekker planning trekking in Nepal with kids make your itinerary long, that means do a trek in more days then the regular trekkers will do.

Is trekking in Nepal safe or dangerous?

Trekking in Nepal is entirely safe, most of all trekking routes are well maintained nowadays. Trek with an experienced guide for the specific region to reduce your chance of danger.

Do not go off beaten trail then the regular trekkers will walk. You can also plan a trip to the best seasons to reduce the chance of risk for Avalanche on high altitudes.

Can we do trekking in Nepal without guide independently?

Yes, most of the trekking routes of Nepal are allowed to do trekking without a guide. Popular treks such as Everest base camp trek, Annapurna base camp trek also can be done, individual.
