Tsum Valley is known as Hidden Valley. It lies on the northern part of Manaslu on the Nepal-Tibet border. The lifestyle of the local may surprise most of us as all the brothers in the family are married to a single girl, you may call this a practice of polyandry. You will be walking along the Nepal-Tibet border in this Tsum valley Manaslu circuit trek. You will be enjoying the view of the majestic surroundings of the Ganesh Himal, Sringi Himal, and Boudha Himal ranges. The dense forests in the area are homes to many rare animals. You won’t be able to hunt, fish and animal slaughtering. If you are lucky, you will get to see Himalayan Thar and Blue Sheep.

We shall start our journey of Tsum valley Manaslu circuit trek from Soti Khola, and we will be following the Budigandaki River as you start hiking up. We will come to a small Hot spring in Tatopani. Along the way, we will be able to admire different types of flowers. Most of the time, you will also be seeing monkeys. Some path will be tough as there are rocky trails. We will also be able to visit the ancient monastery. You will be getting an opportunity to see the magnificent view of the holey lake, Ganesh Himal. Detail Itinerary Of Tsum Valley Manaslu Circuit Trek

Day 01: Drive to Soti Khola(720m) – 9 hours.

The first day of our Tsum valley Manaslu circuit trek, we will take an early drive from local bus park of Kathmandu to Sotikhola. The ride will be beautiful. The road from Kathmandu to Dhading Besi is nice road and after that drive from Dhading Besi to Sotikhola will be on the rough road. Along the way, we will cross a beautiful village called Arughat. It will take 7-8 hours to reach Sotikhola. During the drive, we will enjoy the stunning views of Nepalese countryside villages along with mountain sceneries. Overnight at Teahouse.

Day 02: Trek to Maccha Khola(950m) – 6 hours.

After the breakfast, we begin the trek. The trail goes along with Budhigandaki river. We can enjoy the views of waterfalls during today’s hike. After 3 hours of walk, we will stay Lapubesi a Gurung village for lunch, and the trek continues towards the narrow suspension bridges. Again after 3 hours of the trek from Lapubesi, we will reach Machhakhola. Overnight at Teahouse.

Day 03: Trek to Jagat(1,370m) – 7 hours.

Today we trek begins with the trial that drops down. Along the way, we will walk through the lush tropical vegetation and pass a small waterfall. From where we can see the fantastic view of Ganesh Himal. We will enjoy our lunch at Doban. After that, we will again start trekking. After crossing some few small wooden bridges and some suspension bridges over the Budi Gandaki, we will reach Jagat. On the way, we will pass the beautiful village of Yaru Bagar. It will take 7 hours to reach Jagat from Machha Khola. Overnight at Tea House.

Day 04: Trek to Lokpa(1,830m) – 6 hours.

Today after breakfast we will start our trek towards Lokpa. On the way, we will see the beautiful Gurung village called Philim. Philim valley is well known for the school and police stations made by Japanese. After crossing the long suspension bridge and forests, we will reach Lopka. Today’s trek is nor that harder because we will be walking the only for 5 to 6 hours. Overnight at Lopka.

Day 05: Trek to Chumling(2,285m) – 6 hours.

Today’s trail starts from Lokpa towards Lungwa Khola, and after crossing the jack trial for two hours, we will reach Gumlung. We will walk through the beautiful rhododendron and pine forests. After crossing the Siyar Khola finally, we reach Chumling also lower Tsum. From where we can see the beautiful view of Shringi Himal. We will visit the old Chumling gompa and explore the village. Stay overnight at Chumling.

Day 06: Trek to Chekampar(3,020m) – 6 hours.

Starting after crossing the suspension bridge, we can see the beautiful views of Ganesh Himal. Walking again further, we will reach Gho village after crossing the suspension bridge again. Continue trekking to Tsum takes us to the town of Chhokangparo. We can enjoy the tremendous panoramic views of Himalchuli and Ganesh Himal from here. Overnight at Chokhongparo.

Day 07: Trek to Nile(3,360m) – 6 hours.

We will start trekking through the village of Ngakyu. We will visit Milarepa Cave. It is believed that saint Milarepa had done meditation here on the cave. We also have to pay the admission fee of around 300 NPR. We continue our trek towards after crossing the villages Burji, Phurbe, and Pangdun. On the way to the Nile, we will also see the big Buddhist stupas. Overnight at the Nile.

Day 08: Day Trip to Mu Gompa(3,700m) and back to Chekampar(3,020m) – 8 hours.

Today will visit around Mu gompa and further trek to Chhokangparo. Today we will do sightseeing around Gompa. Mu Gompa is the largest monastery in the region. The gompa lies remote area and highest part of the Tsum valley. We will also visit Dhephu Doma Gompa. After exploring the Gompa and area, we will be back at Chokhongparo to stay. Overnight at Chokhongparo.

Day 09: Trek to Chumling(2,285m) – 7 hours.

Today we will trek down to Chumling from Chekampar. We will walk approximately 7 hours today. We will be trekking through the village Dumje. After crossing the suspension bridge through downhill trial, we will reach Chumling. Overnight at Chumling.

Day 10: Trek to Deng(1,860m) – 7 hours.

We will start walking towards small gompa at Gho, and after crossing the wooden bridge of Siyar Khola, we will reach Domje. And then after passing the Ripchet village, we will reach Deng. Overnight at Deng.

Day 11: Trek to Namrung(2,630m) – 7 hours.

Today we walk through the traditional Buddhist and Tibetan villages. On the way, we will cross some wooden and many suspension bridges. Also, we can see the beautiful view of Sringi Himal from the village viewpoint of Prok. It will take 7 hours to reach Namrung from Deng. Overnight at Tea House.

Day 12: Trek to Sama Ro(3,520m) – 6 hours.

Namrung village is also an excellent viewpoint of Ganesh Himal. Today we climb steadily and pass through the forests. Before reaching the Sama, we will pass the beautiful villages Sho, Lho, and Shyala. From Shyala village we can see the high mountains like Him Chuli, Ngadi Chuli and view of Manaslu. Today we will stay overnight at Samagaon.

Day 13: Day trip to Birendra Lake/Pungyeng gumpa – 5 hours.

We stay at Samagaon for rest and acclimatization. Near the Sama village, there is an old gompa named Pungyen gompa. We will explore and visit here today and return to our accommodation later. Overnight at Samagaon.

Day 14: Trek to Samdo(3,870m) – 4 hours.

Today we have a comfortable day. We will gradually trek uphill all the way to Samdo along the deserted trials of the windy valley. Today trek is for just 3 to 4 hours. We can see the stunning views of Mt. Manaslu, Nagdu Chuli, Manaslu glacier, Manaslu ice fall and several other majestic peaks from Samdo. Overnight at Tea house in Samdo.

Day 15: Trek to Dharmasala/Larkya Phedi(4,460m) – 4 hours.

We continue our walk today towards uphill by crossing the wooden bridges over Budi Gandaki river. Highest point we will reach today is 4460m. The short walk of 4/5 hours also gives us time for acclimatization. Overnight at Dharmasala.

Day 16: Trek to Bimtang Via Larkya Pass(5,160m) – 8 hours.

There are a lot of reasons to be excited today. We will be reaching highest altitude of our entire Tsum valley Manaslu circuit trek today. From Larkya Phedi we will do a short hike till Larkya glacier. The areas around the glacier offer beautiful views of Larkya peak. As we trek further the pass will keep on getting steeper until we reach Larkya la pass at an altitude of 5106m. From where mountain peaks such as Annapurna ii, Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal can be seen. We will take time and enjoy the view from Larkya la pass then we will reach down to Bimthang where we will spend the night at a tea house.

Day 17: Trek to Tilije(2,300m) – 6 hours.

After the breakfast, we will descend further down through beautiful pine forests as well as rhododendron and bamboo. We will walk 5 to 6 hours today until we reach Tilje. Overnight at guesthouse.

Day 18: Trek to Tal(1,670m) – 4 hours.

Today is the second last day of the trek. After crossing the bridge over Dudh Khola, we will continue to trek via Dharapani and Karte until we reach Tal. Overnight at Tal.

Day 19: Drive back to Kathmandu(1,400m) – 9 hours.

Today is the last day of our trek. We will take a drive from Tal to Kathmandu. It will take approx 8 hours to reach Kathmandu from Tal. Overnight at hotel.
