Having a few valleys radiate from Makalu. Near the starting of the trek, there is also a valley called Arun. Barun Valley is along the trek where it has some of last remaining of pristine forest in Nepal. What makes Makalu attractive? The isolated area and the wilderness will be attracting those who want to stay out of the crowd. The livelihood of the people depends on the forest resources for medicine, housing, and food. You will hardly find a modern facility.

You will able to see plants of major ecological zones like tropical, temperate, and alpine. Along the trek, you will be able to meet some simple local people and learn their custom. Their culture has been well preserved due to the isolated area. At the lower section of the trek, the local people are mainly Rai. The Sherpa people mostly stay in the higher area.

To reach Makalu, you will be flying from Kathmandu to Tumlingar and trek to Khadbari. As you trek along the way, you will be passing through a few picturesque villages. You will be able to have a chance to see bamboo groves and rhododendron forest. After arriving at Nhe Kharka, you will be turning back to Tumlingar. Along the trek, you will be crossing through rocky ridges.

This trek won’t be easy as there won’t be much flat walking section. This will be a challenging trek, but it will be worthwhile. You will see stunning mountain view, and wildlife like a snow leopards. You may not have a chance to see this once in your lifetime. It will be a great experience and an adventure for you. It’s also an opportunity to explore snow-clad landscapes and high-altitude terrains.
